Montwood High School Band and A-Team Booster Association

MHS Band and A-Team Booster Association support not only the members of the band and the Color Guard, but also the students participating in sporting events, the school, and the community. Through leadership provided by the boosters and school faculty, especially the music teachers, students learn the value of teamwork, discipline to master their instruments and performance skills, and the value of achieving a worthy goal.

The Ram Band represents the people of El Paso when it marches or performs in statewide competitions. El Paso is known for its friendly people. MHS Band, supported by the friends and family members who make up the Band Boosters, demonstrate the level of talent, dedication, and creativity that is also abundant in the Sun City.

Band Students learn much more than how to march or to play an instrument. They learn how to workBand members talking together before marching practice begins together, as both leaders and supporting members of an organization, to build confidence and communication skills. These lessons will last a lifetime, and be shared with others they meet. Band Boosters demonstrate self-sacrifice as they donate their time, talent, and treasure to help these teens succeed--lessons that will definitely benefit the band members themselves and others with whom they come into contact.

But it's not all work and no play. Working with the band allows Booster to share in the activities of their children and strengthen family ties. They understand and communicate with their kids better than most parents because they are more involved with those things that are important to them.

Greater Confidence through Music

There are many ways to build confidence--sports, academics, art, music, anything that inspires a young person and in which they feel they can achieve. Band lets people perform in public, an activity that definitely requires and bolsters confidence. Almost every human being enjoys music in some form. If your teen has shown an interest in playing an instrument in the past, give them the chance to Band Booster parent talking with band memberssucceed by letting them enroll in band. And show that you are interested in them and their dreams by supporting them as a Band Booster. Contact us to learn how to become a Band Booster...

One of the great side benefits of being in the band is the expectation that the band member must maintain good grades. In fact, members not maintaining 80% (B average) in ALL their classes are not allowed to participate in band events such as football games, and marching and concert competitions. Learning to study well and becoming a life-long learner is perhaps the greatest skill one can practice in this world of constant change.
